About Me

Hi! I'm Sean, a classically--trained violinist and violist who was raised as a fiddler. Born into an Irish-American family, I have a deep love and passion for Irish culture. I helped to found Columbus Comhaltas (central Ohio’s branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann), and competed annually in the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann from 2013-2019. Last year, in 2025, my love of Irish culture brought me across international borders to Newfoundland, Canada.

I love academia; in 2023, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Miami University of Ohio with Bachelors degrees in both Music Education and Violin Performance. I'm currently a graduate student at Memorial University of Newfoundland, working towards a Masters degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy.

I firmly believe that musical success depends entirely on access to the right tools. Through my studies, I've been introduced to tools that have become a vital influence on my playing and teaching: The Alexander Technique, Sports Psychology, and Body Mapping. I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to maintain physical and mental health in the musical world, and I'm committed to using these educational platforms to support my peers, colleagues and students.

My Mission

"If You Can't Play It, You Can't Teach It"

I had the pleasure and good fortune to study with Dr. Harvey Thurmer during my undergraduate studies at Miami University. One of the most powerful lessons he instilled in me was the notion that in order to teach well, one must perform well. I strive to both perform and teach to the highest degree, so as to be the best possible role model that I can be for my students.

I have a multi-faceted approach to teaching music that blends elements of the Alexander Technique with those of the Suzuki, Dalcroze, and Kodály methods. I also use Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) tactics and Mindfulness to help foster understanding and wellness in my studio. Learn more by clicking on the buttons to the left!
