I built Sláinte Music around the belief that all students should have access to quality, affordable, well-informed education. I strive to offer the best lessons that I can, and to meet my students at their level. You can learn more about my teaching philosophy here.

Sláinte Music Policies

Violin & Viola Lessons

Half-hour: $40

45 minutes: $50

Hour: $60

I offer violin and viola lessons at all experience levels. Violin & viola students typically work through the first Suzuki book, then transition to learning standard classical repertoire. Students are also encouraged to research & suggest pieces or composers that interest them!

 

Violin & viola lessons primarily focus on building technique and sustainable playing habits, while simultaneously building understanding of music theory & practice skills. Students who take violin or viola lessons are expected to practice each week & keep a practice log. Practice goals are discussed individually at each lesson.

Fiddle Lessons

Half-hour: $40

45 minute: $50

Hour: $60

I offer fiddle lessons at all experience levels. Fiddle students can expect to learn traditional fiddle repertoire from Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass, and French folk traditions. Students are encouraged to attend local sessions & events that pertain to folk music.

 

Fiddle lessons dually focus on ear-training and technique-building. Students who take fiddle lessons are expected to practice each week & keep a practice log. Practice goals are discussed individually at each lesson.

Cello Lessons

Half-hour: $40

45 minute: $50

Hour: $60

I offer cello lessons at beginner and intermediate levels. Cello students typically work through the first Suzuki book, then transition to learning standard classical repertoire. Students are also encouraged to research & suggest pieces or composers that interest them!

 

Cello lessons primarily focus on developing tope & intonation, while simultaneously building understanding of music theory & practice skills. Students who take cello lessons are expected to practice each week & keep a practice log. Practice goals are discussed individually at each lesson.

Piano Lessons

Half-hour: $40

45 minute: $50

Hour: $60

I offer beginner & intermediate level piano lessons. Students can expect to use skill- and age-appropriate books from the Alfred's piano book series. Piano students are encouraged to attend classical and jazz concerts.

 

Piano lessons focus on building critical musical skills, such as listening, reading, theory, performance, and practice skills. Building these skills sets students up for success. Piano students are expected to practice at each week and keep a practice log. Practice goals are discussed individually at each lesson.

Theory & Composition Lessons

Half-hour: $30

45 minute: $40

Hour: $50

I offer music theory & composition levels at beginner and intermediate levels. Regardless of primary instrument, theory students can expect to learn various concepts of music theory and history; content is personalized to meet existing skills & areas of growth.

 

Music theory & composition lessons focus broadly on ear-training, theoretical accrual & application, thematic creation, thematic development, and large-scale structuring. Students who take music theory & composition lessons are assigned weekly homework in lieu of practice logs.
